Year 5 Magical Maths Experience
Our Year 5 pupils had a truly enchanting learning experience this week during their visit to the Henry Box School for a special Magic Maths session. The room was filled with excitement as the children stepped into the role of budding magicians, discovering just how magical mathematics can be.
The session introduced us to the world of card tricks, where they explored how number patterns and logical thinking can create impressive illusions. They learned how mathematicians and magicians alike use sequences, probability, and pattern-spotting to amaze an audience. The children practised presenting their tricks to one another.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was “mind reading” using addition and subtraction. Pupils were delighted to learn that with just a few simple calculations and clever questioning, they could predict numbers and surprise their friends.
Magic Maths proved to be a fantastic way to show everyone that maths is not just about numbers on a page. A huge thank you to the Henry Box team for hosting such an inspiring and memorable session.

Pupil Voice:
Finley: I liked that we solved different maths equations and that we learnt some cool card tricks.
Mollie: I enjoyed learning all the tricks. The card trick was my favourite. I've practiced it with my brother, my mum, and my dad. They were like, "WOW!"
