Upper Key Stage Two Express Events 2024-2025

Summer Express: Evolution and Inheritance 

Our Upper Key Stage 2 pupils hosted a fascinating Express Event this afternoon, all about evolution and inheritance. It was wonderful to welcome parents into school to share in the children’s learning and creativity.

During the session, families explored key scientific ideas by designing their own mythical creatures, using their understanding of inherited traits, adaptation and survival to bring their imaginative species to life. The children showed great enthusiasm and knowledge as they explained how their creatures had evolved to suit different environments — from icy tundras to tropical jungles!

The event was a fantastic celebration of both scientific understanding and creativity, and we were so proud to see our pupils confidently sharing their learning. A huge thank you to all the parents who attended and made the afternoon so engaging and enjoyable!

Autumn Express: Cooking

For the Year 5 and 6 express event, families were invited into school to help children create a pasta sauce as part of their D&T project from this term. Judging by the queue of children lining up for seconds (and some thirds!) we can safely say UKS2 thoroughly enjoyed their express event!

There was a lovely buzz in the hall as the children planned their own healthy daily diet, prepped whole food sauces, cooked flatbreads and enjoyed bowls of pasta.
