TERM 3 Project
World War Two
This term, our class will be exploring World War II through a cross-curricular project designed to be engaging, practical and accessible for all learners.
In History, pupils will develop an understanding of what World War II was, focusing on life in Britain during the war. They will learn about the Home Front, the Blitz, evacuation, and the importance of remembrance, helping them to understand how the war affected children and families.
In Art, children will use a range of materials and techniques to express their learning creatively. They will create Blitz skyline artwork, design bold propaganda-style posters, explore camouflage patterns, build Anderson shelter collages, and make celebratory VE Day bunting.
In Design and Technology, pupils will take part in hands-on building and making activities. These include constructing model Anderson shelters, designing gas mask boxes, creating simple Morse code machines, cooking with ration-style ingredients, and building toy aircraft.
In Science, learning will link to the wartime context wherever possible. Pupils will explore how planes fly through forces, investigate light and shadow in relation to blackouts, test materials for strength when building shelters, create simple electrical circuits for warning alarms, and learn about growing food through the “Dig for Victory” campaign.
In Computing, children will use technology to present and deepen their understanding. They will create digital title pages, code simple Morse code messages using Scratch, design propaganda posters, make short stop-motion animations, and carry out supported research about evacuation.
In PSHE, lessons will focus on emotional understanding and social development. Pupils will explore how children may have felt during evacuation, the importance of community support, staying safe, building resilience, and celebrating togetherness during VE Day.
Throughout the project, learning will be sensory-aware, discussion-based and practical, with visual supports and adaptations to ensure all children can access and enjoy the curriculum.

enhanced pathway
At Queen Emma’s Primary School, we are dedicated to nurturing the whole child through a well-rounded education that extends beyond traditional academics. We are excited to have a bespoke Enhanced Pathway to ensure our pupils with specific Special Educational Needs have the best possible provision. It is tailored for pupils who require specialised support that goes beyond what can be offered at the high level our students deserve in a mainstream classroom. Alongside our curriculum, we offer life skills lessons and a comprehensive Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) curriculum created by the Mulberry Bush School.
Our approach emphasises the development of essential skills such as resilience, self-awareness, and emotional regulation, ensuring children are equipped to succeed both inside and outside the classroom. Through our outreach program, students have the opportunity to learn in mainstream classrooms for part of the day, allowing them to benefit from a diverse educational experience while still receiving the targeted support they need.

express event - Summer term
A huge thank you to all the parents who joined us for Everest's Express Event! It was wonderful to welcome you in to help complete our diamond art projects and enjoy some board games together. We loved seeing you and sharing this special time with you.

Previous Terms:
memorable experience - rocks, relics and rumbles
Everest had a fantastic memorable experience today learning about fossils, rocks and relics! They gained first hand experience sorting and labelling rocks and minerals, and learnt about fossils and ammonites. They had so much fun handling fossilised mammoth and shark teeth, and were able to handle a range of different animals’ vertebrae!

Science Week
Science Week was full of curiosity and excitement as we investigated the question "Which colour sweet is the strongest?" We designed experiments to test the strength of different coloured sweets, using weights and pressure to see which would hold up best. The results were surprising — some sweets were much tougher than we expected! It certainly got us thinking about materials and structures, and the children made some brilliant predictions and observations.
