Year 6 Residential 2019

Day 1:

We arrived at Woodlands at 12:15 and straight away went to sort out our rooms. We managed to get our bedding sorted (only with a bit of help!). We were put into our groups for the week and then headed out to start some team-building activities. We talked about how to work in a team and the aims of our week. Our team skills improved as we completed the activities. We had a bit of free time before dinner. Dinner was fish and chips/veggie burger and chips. We also had jelly for pudding. We ended the evening with a local walk to the top of a nearby hill (photos to come).

Day 2:

What a busy day! This morning we had cereal, toast, scrambled egg and porridge for breakfast. Then after our meeting we headed off for the ‘Jungle Gym’ day. This involved three activities. High wires, zip line and climbing wall. We gave it our all and tried things that we thought we couldn’t do. This evening we had sausages and mash potato for dinner and then took part in an orienteering competition. Well done to Aidan and Elise for winning.  Tomorrow we go caving.

Day 3:

Caving. After a bacon bap for breakfast we gathered our equipment and headed to the caves. We spoke about challenging ourselves and giving all the tasks a go. It was dark and wet but it was really good fun.

Day 4:

After some of us had to be woken up (we are getting a bit more tired!), we headed for breakfast of hash browns and spaghetti hoops. We set off for canoeing with excitement. Once we learned about steering and moving forward and backwards, we were ready. We all travelled 2 miles down the canal, avoiding barges and narrow boats. We finshed with sliding down the back of the boat into the water. We headed back to the house and had chilli for dinner. We played rounders and football for our evening activity. We are looking forward to our mountain walk tomorrow before travelling home.
